On Saturday, the White House floated a new expansion of the DEI acronym, widely known as diversity, equity and inclusion: deport every illegal.
“The only DEI we support: Deport Every Illegal,” the White House posted on its official X account.
The statement comes just days after a landmark ruling in which a federal judge deemed Trump’s usage of the Alien Enemies Act, an 18th century wartime law allowing the president to deport hostile non-citizens, unlawful.
Trump reacted to the judge’s ruling on Truth Social on Saturday.
“Can it be so that Judges aren’t allowing the USA to Deport Criminals, including Murderers, out of our Country and back to where they came from? If this is so, our Country, as we know it, is finished! Americans will have to get used to a very different, crime filled, LIFE. This is not what our Founders had in mind!!!” he wrote.
Trump claimed he was invoking the act to deport Tren de Aragua gang members—the government has designated the group as a terrorist organization.
US District Judge Fernando Rodriguez ruled that Trump invoked the act unlawfully to hasten deportations. Rodriguez’s ruling is the first time a federal judge has ruled Trump overstepped his official bounds by invoking a wartime act.
