The Governor’s Advisory Council on Latino Affairs serves as a vital resource to the Governor on issues affecting Latino communities throughout North Carolina. The Council’s responsibilities include strengthening cooperation between state government and Latino communities, promoting opportunities, identifying challenges, and recommending solutions to improve quality of life and civic engagement.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Freile addressed attendees and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
“It is such an honor to be among so many voices shaping the future of North Carolina,” Freile said. “I want to begin by thanking Governor Josh Stein for the opportunity to serve. I am also grateful to all who placed their trust in me and made this appointment possible. I especially want to thank Cristina España, Senior Outreach Advisor in the Office of Governor Stein, for building a Council that truly represents North Carolina, bringing together voices from both urban cities and rural communities.”
As Co-Chair, Freile will help guide the Council’s initiatives over the next two years, bringing her experience in community engagement and communications to address issues impacting Latino families and communities statewide.
