If there was any doubt that Juan Gabriel’s music is timeless, they need to see how two icons from different musical genres, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé, were captivated while listening to “Amor Eterno.” Their faces said it all.
The artists heard the iconic composition by the Divo de Juárez during the auditions of the previous season of the popular reality show The Voice. The 27th, which just kicked off in the U.S.
Alongside Snoop and Bublé, this season’s coaches include Reba McEntire and Niall Horan. The former One Direction member substitutes Gwen Stefani. She was seated in the show’s signature red chairs, facing away, when a teenager named Kiara Vega began singing the song made famous by Rocío Durcal.
Within seconds, both male artists turned their chairs in approval. Soon after, Reba followed suit. The 18-year-old Tampa, Florida native captivated the judges with her emotional rendition, showcasing her powerful voice and the passion she brought to the performance.
An Eternal Love of Mourning
Kiara’s choice of ‘Amor Eterno’ was deeply personal. The song served as a tribute to her recently deceased great-grandfather. Through her performance, she aimed to express the longing to keep her loved ones’ memory alive. This personal connection added a poignant depth to her audition.
“I loved every moment! I’m a huge fan of that music. This was the biggest surprise for me so far. Honestly, you blew me away, Kiara!” said Bublé, visibly moving with tears in his eyes as he encouraged the contestant from his chair. Meanwhile, Snoop couldn’t hide his joy as he nodded along to the rhythm of her performance.
It’s worth noting that even though neither of the male judges is Latino, they both have an affinity for Latin music genres.
“Kiara was an instant hit for me,” Bublé said after the contestant chose him as her coach for the competition. “My wife is Argentinian, so for the last 16 years of my life, I’ve been surrounded by Latin culture… That was a massive win for me today!” added the singer, who is married to actress Luisana Lopilato.
And while rapper Snoop is American, he has demonstrated a growing appreciation for Latin music over the years. In fact, in addition to attending high school with Jenni Rivera and her brother Lupillo, Snoop Dogg has collaborated with several regional Mexican bands, including Banda MS.
The Magic of ‘Amor Eterno’
