White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has condemned CNN for airing an interview with a member of the Sinaloa Cartel after the group was designated a foreign terrorist organization
Karoline Leavitt blasted CNN for broadcasting an interview with a Sinaloa Cartel member after President Trump labeled the group and its members a foreign terrorist organization.
The White House Press Secretary expressed her disapproval during her appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Monday, criticizing the network for “giving a platform” to a member of a notorious Mexican cartel.
CNN’s controversial segment aired on Sunday and featured journalist Isobel Yeung conversing with a member of the Sinaloa Cartel whose face and voice were obscured to conceal his identity. The conversation comes in the wake of President Trump’s executive order designating drug cartels as terrorist groups.

Press Secretary Karoline has been actively promoting the president’s stance that Latino immigrants are violent offenders and advocates for their deportation without due process.
Since Trump’s inauguration in January, Homeland Security has expelled over 150,000 undocumented immigrants, while border agents have intercepted more than 230,000 pounds of fentanyl, reports the Mirror US.
“I was actually scrolling on Instagram when I came across this interview, and it stopped me in my tracks,” Karoline remarked.
“Not just because they sat down with a member of a Mexican cartel that is now designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the United States government, but because of the nature of the questions of this notorious foreign terrorist,” she added.
During the interview, Isobel posed the question: “According to the Trump Administration, you are a terrorist. What do you make of that?,” to which he responded,” to which he replied, “Well, the situation is ugly, but we have to eat.”
When asked what his message to the president would be if he were to watch the interview, the man simply said, “My respect.”
“According to him, he’s looking out for his people,” he explained, “But the problem is the consumers are in the United States. If there weren’t any consumers, we would stop,” he stated, referring to the opioid crisis in the US.
The press secretary was quick to criticise the network for airing the discussion. “It was a softball interview,” she declared, “giving a platform to a notorious drug cartel that has killed American citizens.
“I thought it was quite despicable. But again, this is just another reason why the trust in the legacy media is at an all-time low amongst the American public,” the 27-year-old White House staffer commented.
