Mayra Guillén, the sister of the murdered Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood) soldier, Vanessa Guillén, has announced that she is coming for Democratic representative Al Green’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The announcement came after Rep. Green disrupted President Donald Trump’s address. He was ejected from the House chamber and censured for “breach of conduct” with a vote of 224-198. 10 Democrats are included in the group who voted to censure Green.
After watching @RepAlGreen disrespect not only @POTUS last night, but our district, state and country, I believe it’s time for me to get into the fight like I did for my sister Vanessa Guillen!

Guillén slammed Green’s actions, writing on X, “After watching @RepAlGreen disrespect not only @POTUS last night, but our district, state and country, I believe it’s time for me to get into the fight like I did for my sister Vanessa Guillen! It’s time to end the propaganda displayed by these politicians, and time to help support @POTUS and his amazing Admiration to Make America Great Again! Al Green I’m coming for your seat.
Mayra’s sister, Vanessa was a 20-year-old U.S. army specialist stationed at Fort Cavazos (then known as Fort Hood), Texas. On April 22, 2020, she was bludgeoned to death by fellow soldier Aaron David Robinson.
Robinson fled to the nearby town of Killeen, Texas before committing suicide when the police caught up with him. His girlfriend, Cecily Aguilar, was arrested for assisting him in disposing of Guillén’s body and sentenced to a maximum of 30 years in prison.
Guillén had reportedly confided in her family that she was experiencing sexual harassment by a superior at Fort Cavazos but didn’t report it in fear of retaliation.
Thank you @realDonaldTrump for meeting with my mother and I today & taking the time to speak with us privately. See you at the White House!

While Mayra did not go into details on social media on her future campaign to represent Texas’ 9th Congressional District, she praised President Donald Trump for his response to her sister’s murder as well as support for him in the wake of Green’s disruption.
