The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) are once again coming together to celebrate the next generation, both on and off the field. The NFL Latino Youth Honors recognizes high school seniors who not just excel academically and in football, but also contribute or engage meaningfully with Latino culture and community.
As part of the program, eight high school seniors will receive a grant award that can be used for college. Both the male and female winners will receive $25,000, with each of the six other finalists receiving $5,000 grants.
“The NFL Latino Youth Honors is more than a recognition program – it’s a celebration of the powerful role culture, character and community play in shaping the next generation of leaders,” said Marissa Solis, NFL senior vice president of global brand & consumer marketing. “These student-athletes represent the best of our sport, including discipline, pride and purpose, and we’re proud to partner with Procter & Gamble and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to spotlight these young changemakers who are excelling on the field and in the classroom and ultimately uplifting Latino culture in meaningful ways.”
“At the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, we believe that leadership is cultivated through purpose, culture, and service,” said Jose Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of the HHF. “The NFL Latino Youth Honors exemplifies that belief by recognizing student-athletes who are not only excelling in football and academics, but also in their deep commitment to uplifting Latino culture and community. We are grateful, proud, and thrilled to partner with the NFL and P&G to not only spotlight these young leaders, but to lift and propel them forward. Their impact will be felt.”
The way the process works is simple. Earlier this year, all 32 NFL teams were invited to nominate student-athletes to be considered for this year’s program. 62 nominations were received across all 32 NFL clubs. A panel will now select eight finalists, each representing one of the eight NFL divisions. On top of the grants, the winners will also receive exclusive mentorship opportunities during Super Bowl LX Week in San Francisco.
Winners will be announced during Super Bowl LX week. And Procter & Gamble will be serving as the presenting sponsor of the Latino Youth Honors.
