Latino Victory Fund is all in on former Sen. José Javier Rodríguez’s bid to become Florida’s first Latino Attorney General and the first Democrat to hold the job in more than 20 years.
The Washington-based progressive political action committee, which works to increase Latino representation in government, is throwing its full support behind Rodriguez.
Latino Victory Fund President and CEO Katharine Pichardo called Rodríguez “a dedicated public servant who knows how to fight and win for Florida’s working families.”
“The rule of law, honest government, and policies that help our communities thrive are under attack by MAGA Republicans, but leaders like José Javier aren’t afraid to push back,” she said in a statement.
“That’s why we need him as Florida’s attorney general. He is a true leader of the people, who’s been in the trenches protecting civil rights and uplifting underserved communities for decades. Latino Victory Fund is proud to support José Javier and will be working diligently to mobilize Latino voters in Florida to win this race.”
The nod Tuesday from Latino Victory Fund is Rodríguez’s first major endorsement in the 2026 election cycle. Rodríguez, who served as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor under ex-President Joe Biden after losing his state Senate seat in a so-called “ghost candidate” scheme, launched his Attorney General bid in early June.
Rodríguez said in a statement that he is “thrilled” to have Latino Victory Fund’s support “and to be in this fight together for the people of Florida.”
“I’ve dedicated my public service career to protecting Florida’s hard-working families,” he said. “Too many working families go to work each day worried about rising costs. As Florida’s Attorney General, I am committed to bringing relief from rising costs, restoring public integrity and respect for the rule of law, and putting respect for due process and individual rights at the forefront.”
Rodriguez, a Miami labor lawyer who also served for four years in the House, is currently the only Democrat running for Attorney General.
Republicans in the contest include appointed Attorney General James Uthmeier and Steven Leskovich, a Punta Gorda lawyer who worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the 20th Judicial Circuit before going into private practice in 2002.

New polling shows Uthmeier holds a comfortable lead with voters over Rodríguez due to Republicans’ 1.4 million-voter advantage statewide, though Rodríguez leads among Democratic and independent voters.
