On the eve of the first day of fall, the Cape Fear Latinos Festival will return to downtown Wilmington.
Here’s what to know about the event.
What is the festival?
The Cape Fear Latinos Festival an event organized by New Hanover County, the city of Wilmington, and Cape Fear Latinos, a local nonprofit organization, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 to Oct. 15). The festival showcases Hispanic and Latino culture and traditions.
What’s happening?
The third annual family-friendly festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 12:30-7 p.m. at Riverfront Park/Live Oak Bank Pavilion on 10 Cowan St.
Parade: A small parade will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Cape Fear Community College Schwartz Center parking lot at 610 Front St.
Live music: Performances by local and regional artists, a variety of music ― salsa, Latin pop, merengue, bands and more.
Dance performances: Folkloric dances.
Authentic food: Vendors will showcase a variety of delicious cuisine from different Latin American countries.
Arts and crafts: Vendors and other organizations showcasing their resources.
Family activities: There will be free children’s games, activities and more.
