September 15, 2025 – The official kickoff for Hispanic Heritage Month at Fresno State is La Bienvenida, a university tradition, welcoming new and returning Latina/o/x students, faculty and staff to campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the University Student Union balcony and The Pit.
The event, presented by the Latina/o Faculty and Staff Association, will feature performances by Mixtecos Unidos, Mariachi Orgullo de Fresno State, Danzantes de Aztlán and Banda La Afirmativa. Sept. 16: Meet Your Pueblo, presented by Latino/a Programs and Services from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Resnick Student Union, Room 214. This is a social hour for students to enjoy aguas frescas while learning how to create papel picado to be displayed in the Cross Cultural and Gender Center during Hispanic Heritage Month. Sept. 18: Lunch & Learn Series — Raíces y Futuro: Latine Student Activism then, now, and beyond, presented by Latino/a Programs and Services in collaboration with the Chicano and Latin American Studies Department at noon in the Resnick Student Union, Room 214. This is an educational workshop that discusses the past, present and future of Latine/Chicanx student activism. Free for the campus community. Sept. 23: Paws and Pans, presented by Off-Campus Student Life in collaboration with Latino/a Programs and Services, Associated Students Inc., Amendola Family Student Cupboard and CalFresh. Students can participate in a cooking class to learn how to prepare quesadillas and taquitos at 3 p.m. in the Family Food and Science building’s teaching kitchen. The class is limited to 15 participants. Students can sign up through a link that will be posted on @FresnoStateCCGC or @OCSLprogram. An additional 50 ingredient bags will be available for pickup at the Amendola Family Student Cupboard for students who wish to cook at home. Free for students. Sept. 25: Tied Together: HHM Shirt Giveaway and Tie-dye, presented by Latino/a Programs and Services. From 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Memorial Garden (in front of the Kennel Bookstore), students can check in for a free Hispanic Heritage Month shirt to tie-dye and take home. Oct. 13: Movie Night: Indigenous Representation in Wakanda Forever, presented by Latino/a Programs and Services in Collaboration with American Indian Programs and Services.
