French media is shutting down a wave of social media rumors claiming President Emmanuel Macron was caught with a bag of cocaine during a recent train ride to Ukraine.
The moment — filmed as reporters entered a room where Macron was meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer — has gone viral, with users speculating that Macron grabbed a suspicious white packet and Merz was holding a cocaine spoon or straw.

French newspaper Libération pushed back, calling the claims baseless. The publication says Macron was simply holding a handkerchief and that Merz had a drink stirrer — not drug paraphernalia. Anything else, they say, is pure “conspiracy theory.”
