A Mexican legend is visiting the U.S. for a proper farewell. After a sold-out run with concerts all over his native country, singer-songwriter José María Napoleón announced that his “Tour De Despedida” (“Farewell Tour”) is coming to eight American cities this fall and aims to deliver multigenerational hits that bring warmth and nostalgia to fans.
The Live Nation-promoted tour kicks off Oct. 23 at the San Jose Civic in Northern California, followed by a stop at YouTube Theater in Inglewood. Napoleón will then make his way to Texas for shows at Houston’s Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land and Payne Arena in Hidalgo before going to the Rosemont Theatre in Illinois. He briefly returns to Texas Nov. 8 to perform at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving and then travels to Phoenix’s Arizona Financial Theatre before wrapping up at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre in San Diego, California.
Presale tickets are currently available throughout the week, including one for Citi cardmembers, leading up to the general onsale, which begins May 2 at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.
With a career spanning over 50 years, Napoleón is one of Mexico’s most iconic songwriters with hits like “Vive,” “Eres” and “Pajarillo.” His compositions have been sung by artists such as Vicente Fernández, Luciano Pavarotti, and Pepe Aguilar and have influenced many more, including Juan Gabriel, José José, Yuri, Mon Laferte and Carlos Rivera.
Napoleón last visited the U.S. in 2022, performing at venues such as San Antonio’s Majestic Theatre, where he grossed $134,026 off 1,414 tickets sold, according to Pollstar Boxoffice.
