Ron Scott Jr., director of cultural diversity and community outreach at YWCA Wheeling, invites the public to the Hispanic and Latino Listening Party and Community Potluck on Thursday at Nail City Records, 40-12th St., Wheeling.
YWCA Wheeling and Nail City Records are partnering to host a Hispanic and Latino Listening Party and Community Potluck this week.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Nail City Records, located on the third floor at 40-12th St. in downtown Wheeling.
This event celebrates music, culture, and community, and offers an evening of connection through art, food, and shared experiences for Hispanic Heritage Month.
The listening party will showcase Hispanic and Latino artists across all genres, providing attendees with a focused space to enjoy music together, with select vinyl available for purchase. Local Hispanic and Latino musicians will have the opportunity to perform, and poets, writers, and authors are invited to share their work or excerpts inspired by Hispanic and Latino culture.
The community potluck highlights the rich heritage and stories behind each dish, creating a space for cultural exchange, fellowship, and connection.
“As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we are thrilled to host an event that not only highlights the incredible contributions of Hispanic and Latino artists but also provides an inclusive space for everyone in our community to come together,” said Ron Scott Jr., director of cultural diversity and community outreach at YWCA Wheeling. “Through music, art and food, we are building connections, breaking down barriers and honoring the diversity that strengthens our community.”
This event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share, but all are welcome regardless of contribution. If you plan on bringing a dish, please email cdcodirector@ywcawheeling.org.
“At YWCA Wheeling, we believe the strongest communities are built through collaboration and shared experiences,” said Liz Handzus, marketing director at YWCA Wheeling. “Partnering with Nail City Records for this Listening Party and Community Potluck allows us to bring people together, celebrate diverse voices, and create a sense of cohesion and connection that strengthens our entire community.”
