VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – This month, communities in South Georgia are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month — recognizing the rich culture, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino families who call this region home.
One business doing just that is Rico’s Tacos.
The restaurant blends traditional recipes, while adding a modern twist, creating a cultural experience that draws in customers while also boosting the local economy.
“So that’s what it’s all about is like we’re staying true to the roots but also being innovative and impacting the community. Creating that through scholarships, the jobs, and the food, and that’s what Rico’s Tacos is all about,” Ricardo Munoz, owner of Rico’s Tacos, said.
Munoz says that when he came to the United States at 9 years old. He did not know any English, but he had a community of people that supported him, and now he’s able to give back to future generations.
“There were some amazing people who poured their hearts out to me. Now that I’m older, I do that same thing for others,” he said.
Rico’s Tacos says thanks to the support, they serve over 12 South Georgia communities with two food trucks throughout the week and two locations in Valdosta and Adel. The business has been able to expand to a late-night food menu.
Now, Munoz and his wife, Jennifer, are branching into a new venture, Flantastic Coffee Co., to bring even more Latin culture into people’s everyday lives.

“I am thankful for this community, they opened their doors…not only physically but of their hearts as well,” Munoz said.
